FMA Filipino Martial Arts
Filipino Martial Arts is a weapon based fighting system with single stick, double stick, palm stick, blades (knives and swords) as well as open hand techniques without weapons.
Commonly called Arnis, Kali or Eskrima depending on which island or area of the Philippines it originated in.
Arnis from the Spanish words 'Arnes de mano' meaning 'Armour of the hands'.
Eskirima from the Spanish word 'Esgrima' meaning 'fencing'.
Most traditional martial art styles start with empty hand (no weapon) training and progress into weapon training and defence.
Whereas, Fillipino martial arts start off training with sticks and blades and progress to empty hand.
Empty hand training includes punches, kicks, elbows, knees, head butts, joint locks, chokes, throws and takedowns.
We prepare you to defend yourself from attack by giving you the reflexes and muscle memory to react quickly in situations and perform the necessary task.
